Cutting Implement 013

This cutting implement is asymmetrically forged and ground for a right handed user. This knife is the thinnest i have ever produced and has a superb cutting feel. Your left hand knuckles will rest against a smooth & slightly convex ground face while food will struggle to stick to the c ground surface on the right hand side of the knife. Knife has a flat edge along the first 2/3 with subtle rock on the front 1/3. TThe Maple wood handle was sourced from my partner Emily’s hand me down cutting board and was givenm a burnt wood finish by heating up a large chunk of steel in my forge and laying the wood on it. A similar treatment known as Shou Sugui Ban has been used for centuries by Japanese builders on building structures that interface with the ground to protect the wood from wrought and decay. The brass spacer was sourced from Maple Leaf Rubber Stamp and was a misprinted brass tag used to label equipment for industrial clients. Ferrule is made of a tough black resin. Handle is a take down design and can be disassembled with a 2.5mm hex key.

A hamon was created by coating the spine in clay before heating it up red hot and quenching in oil. The spine remains softer while the edge gets much harder and the line running down the length of the blade delineates this.

My knives are intended to be used daily in the kitchen and if for any reason they break under normal use I will repair or replace at no cost to the user. As these knives are extremely hard and thin they should be handled with the same care as a Japanese knife

Let me know if there is a different handle material you would like. If i am not contacted it will be shipped with black handle.
